CITATION X shows us that even the best can be improved upon

When picking up this months edition of FLYING magazine I couldn’t help but notice the CITATION X filling the entire cover.  Now I am not a pilot nor do I travel extensively but I really enjoy looking at these cool planes. Obviously I have heard of the CITATION X as being the worlds fastest civilian plane, so what could Cessna do to improve upon that amazing aircraft? Well, it had to do with distance. At .92mach speed it is great to get where you’re going, fast, but what if you have to refuel? Cessna has incorporated winglets at the wings tip to add up to 400 miles of range to the already 3,000 mile distance. Of course there is a lot more going on than what is mentoined but still that is almost 15% gain on distance. Even when something is as good as the CITATION X there is always room for improvement.

Well, here at VarTech Systems we are not aeronautical engineers but we do have teams of engineers working to improve our products. In the past many of the changes were internal component differences and optical enhancements; most of the time you couldn’t see that change physically. But that has changed as of recent, VarTech has recently released the Gen 2 series of our DiamondVue industrial LCD monitors. There are very apparent changes that you will be able to notice right out of the box and I want to share with you a few of them.

  • New and Improved Rugged Milled and Machined 6061 T6 aluminum front bezels
  • New controller board with BNC (Composite), DVI, S-Video and VGA on each product
  • Better OSD menu pad
  • Rear chassis powder coat aluminum

In addition to these external differences the LCD modules we use are the “top-of-the-line” harsh duty cells which lend to our customers requirement for rugged monitors. These new panels have higher image definition, contrast ratios and overall viewing envelopes. All of this while maintaining our industry leading flexible mounting options. For the panel mount displays the mounting pattern has not changed, adding to VarTech’s committment for their customers need for a consistent product line. This will make upgrades to this new series a very quick and simple installation.

Why W I D E ?

In VarTech’s August newsletter we introduce a 24″ 16:9 widescreen industrial LCD monitor. Click Here for newsletter. By now most everyone is familiar with LCD televisions that are in the widescreen format. The advent of HDTV and the 16:9 aspect ratio opened movie viewers eyes to the content the director intended for us to see. Remember when you would play a VHS tape and at the beginning of the film there was the statement, “This movie has been formatted to fit your TV.”? That is because the movie was filmed in widescreen format. We had been missing out on extra footage that was there for us to enjoy. Now we just take widescreens for granted as part of our everyday life.

For years now computer monitors have moved from traditional 4:3 ratio to the wide,16:9/10, ratios. Due to the shift in screen layout software companies began creating their products in these formats as well. When a designer is laying out the user interface for industrial automation they are doing so in a wide aspect ratio and with a higher resolution, because the monitor and software allow that. After they finish laying out it is time to save and for the most part at a 4:3 aspect ratio with lower resolutions to conform to the smaller LCD sizes and format. Since the program is designed in the widescreen layout it will be simple to display on 16:9 widescreen industrial LCD monitor without modifying the view to 4:3.  That is why it is important to consider using large WIDE screens in your industrial automation and other visualization LCD products. So if you want to display more data and have room for the larger screen sizes, consider going WIDE with the VarTech Systems industrial large screen monitors. You can see what the designer wanted you too, kind of like how the director intended us to see his movie. In the end you just get more when you go wide.
